When we interpret ideas superficially, we miss out on more robust, nuanced, and useful ways of being.
This page is a stub, created on 2020-10-06 (last updated on 2021-03-04). Its contents are notes on the issues and angles I want to address about this topic.
Alleged contradictions, which, when understood in essential terms, aren't contradictions at all:
- acceptance and judging
- content and wanting more
- caring about others for their own sakes and being self-interested
- exerting effort (eg, in meditation) and letting things be
- being proud/ambitious and not over-identifying with results/status
Needless to say, perhaps, there's a strong connection to the ways in which I'm misunderstood.
